I believe those were ice houses selling ice so the fishermen could refrigerate their catch for transport.

Hi Aimee, how has it been? We have nt talked in awhile. I was Xerxese on Twitter. As always, you have captured a wonderful setting. A little history of the stilted buildings, some were homes and others were fish houses. A few remaining buildings are just off the Florida coast near Miami. These are legacy building of a bygone era that allowed one to build on the bay but I do not believe Florida allows anyone to build on the like these. If you get a chance to do a trip to Miami, Florida, there should be a few remaining. Be well and prosperous! Frank W., aka Xerxese (or Zerkzese).
